The capture methods we use are:

  • mass capture, using plastic and net bomas;
  • darting;
  • passive capture.

Most of the game transported by us is tranquillized and then piped, thus dramatically reducing the mortality rate.

A Robinson 22 & Robinson 44 Helicopter is used full-time by John Blythe-Wood or Jon Craig Blythe-Wood, both pilots proficient in the game capture business.

We utilise one large, 12.5m double-axle trailer coupled to a MAN truck tractor to transport the larger loads of animals. The trailers can carry approximately 32 red hartebeest-sized, or 80 - 100 impala-sized animals.

We use two 4 ton 6m rigid Isuzu FTR800 trucks to facilitate the movement of smaller loads, which carries around 16 large or 45 small animals. We also have a specialised giraffe trailer that is able to load between 6 - 8 giraffe. For the capture and transport of Buffalo and Rhino crates, a Isuzu FTR 800 Flatbed truck fitted with a crane is used.

WTS has a permanent staff of 25 capture members headed by Dandara, a qualified Veternarian is contracted in when required, who is proficient in the use of schedule 7 drugs, and an office administrator who handles the office.
